The Left's focus on crude racial politics has made everyone understandably weary of identity, but identity does not magically disappear. As a response, some are now pushing for the forced elimination of identity even up to the level of the nation, singling our nationalism itself as the enemy. Under Joseph Stalin the USSR also recognize the need to abolish tribal and even national identities in the service of international community. We will discuss why projects of scale, both liberal and communist, reliably seek to destroy national identity.
