Published 2 years, 10 months ago
Description

Cyclone Gabrielle has left a trail of destruction across the North Island, but the East Coast has been hit particularly hard.

Thousands of people are still unaccounted for, roads remain blocked and many are without power.

Some local politicians have voiced their frustration at the lack of infrastructure funding, while others are taking aim at the actions of the forestry industry.

Hawke’s Bay Today editor Chris Hyde is here to give us a sense of just how bad the situation is and how long the recovery could take.
