As the two GC hopefuls ascended the first climb of the day the tension was thick in the air, they had both gotten clear of the peloton with one other rider but as they bickered and fought over who would ride the third rider, Kasia Niewiadoma seized her opportunity and rode off.
Would the two Dutch riders make a truce to close her down?
