Come with me and keep me company this third day of February. We are walking together and can choose whether to be annoyed by the companions who grumble and argue and point out the mud and cold; or to link arms with the loving, good people. Think Atticus; think the Princess of Wales; think Floella Benjamin, Nelson Mandela, Desmond Tutu, the Dalai Lama. And who do we have closer to home? There is a wonderful lady I know in her 80s, widowed, who smiles and loves and lives a purposeful life. We are free to choose what group to join, even if we have to fake it, with the aim of making it. And when we think of awful leaders, let’s imagine the advice that a 500 year old Dorset oak tree would give us. We can choose to be at peace today; and let that still small voice of calm be our guide, with a small candle of hope; and our hands outstretched to support other people. Night night dear friends xxx
