Langley City’s fire chief says his department is unable to meet the recommended minimum staffing levels. Fire Chief Scott Kennedy says a consultant’s recommendation of a six firefighter minimum per shift is not achievable without considerable use of overtime. And Kennedy says it still might not be possible even with overtime as many firefighters would not be willing to work the extra time. Langley City is trying to hire four extra firefighters to increase its strength to 30 members.
