Description

It's a pleasure to introduce everyone to Dr. Tom MacGillivray, Chief, Cardiac Surgery and Thoracic Transplant

Houston Methodist Cardiovascular Surgery Associates. Dr. MacGillivray is an expert heart surgeon and heads up the heart transplant program at Houston Methodist Hospital, located in the world-famous Texas Medical Center. Together with Dr. Joe Galati, he discusses some of the breakthroughs in open heart surgery, and the questions to ask if you are a patient being considered for open heart surgery.

Back on the program is Helen Yuan, Registered Dietitian, with Liver Specialists of Texas. Helen discussed some of the more common food labeling misconceptions, that leads to poor food choices. She stressed the need to beware of any food products that contain the claim of being "natural".

Lastly, Dr. Galati gives an overview of the best nuts to consider in your diet. How about adding walnuts, sunflower seeds, and soy nuts? These all contain the largest amounts of polyunsaturated fats, which are good for your cholesterol values.
