Description

All about #Diabetes-but first we hear from Chuck Garcia, author and communication coach. Dr. Galati and Chuck were roommates at Syracuse University, and even back then, they both realized that they lived in a big world, full of opportunities. Tonight Chuck is kicking off his inaugural episode of his radio program on #77wabc, A Climb to the Top-Stories of Transformation.

In Season 2, Episode 2, Dr. Joe Galatii s joined by two experts in diabetes. Helen Yuan, Registered Dietitian, and Anthony Santos, who is a Nurse Practitioner with clinical experience in diabetes. Both work with Dr. Galati at Liver Specialist of Texas.

In America, 30.3 million Americans, or 9.4% of the population, have diabetes. 1.5 million Americans are diagnosed with diabetes every year, and 84.1 million Americans age 18 and older have prediabetes. Clearly, diabetes affects a lot of Americans.

The complications of diabetes are devastating. They include premature cardiovascular disease (stroke and heart attack), kidney failure needing dialysis, fatty liverwhich can lead to cirrhosis, blindness, and the need for amputations. The financial and emotional cost of diabetes is tremendous.

The interview helps to shed light for all those that listen, and it's our hope that we can be impactful and make a change.
