Description
Between April 26 and May 2, 2025, several notable criminal incidents were reported across Sacramento. Early in the week, in the South Sacramento area near Mack Road, officers identified an occupied stolen vehicle during nighttime patrol. As officers prepared to initiate a traffic stop, the suspect abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot. Officers pursued and detained the individual without incident, making an arrest for felony vehicle theft. This case is closed with the suspect in custody.
On Northgate Boulevard near the Arden Garden Connector, a fatal hit-and-run collision occurred. According to the initial investigation, one party fled the scene after the crash. Officers arrested a suspect for alleged DUI in connection with the incident. The investigation remains ongoing as detectives continue to gather evidence and seek additional witnesses. Police are asking for public assistance in locating individuals who may have witnessed the collision or have relevant information for this case.
Throughout the North Sacramento and Arden-Arcade neighborhoods, patrols responded to several alleged residential burglaries reported during daytime hours. In each instance, entry was reportedly gained through rear doors or windows. Items such as electronics and small valuables were stolen. These cases remain under investigation, and no arrests have been made.
Multiple commercial burglaries were reported in the downtown area, primarily involving forced entry after business hours. Officers took initial reports and continue to canvass for surveillance footage and additional leads. At this time, there are no known suspects, and the investigations are ongoing.
A series of alleged vehicle break-ins occurred near the Midtown and Land Park neighborhoods. In most cases, personal property left in plain view was taken. These incidents are under investigation; police advise the public to remove valuables from vehicles and report any suspicious activity.
Late in the week, officers responded to a report of an armed robbery near the intersection of Del Paso Boulevard and El Camino Avenue. The suspect reportedly brandished a handgun and took cash from a victim. The suspect is described as a male adult, approximately 6 feet tall, wearing a dark hoodie and jeans. Detectives are seeking public assistance in identifying this individual. Anyone with information is urged to contact police.
No additional major incidents, such as homicides or officer-involved shootings, were reported within the city limits during this week.
There have been reports of increased vehicle break-ins and burglaries in the Midtown and downtown areas, as well as a noted rise in overnight commercial burglaries. Authorities encourage residents and business owners to remain vigilant, secure property, and report suspicious behavior promptly.
