Healing Childhood Trauma
Description
Morning Mantra: "Sometimes the hardest part of the healing journey is simply believing you’re worthy of the trip."
This post today is just a reminder that childhood wounds run deep. Those negative comments follow you through life.
I have heard from so many adult women how they were told they were “too sensitive, too much, dumb, fat, too loud, had too much energy, were lazy or would never measure up.”
One of my friends told me that at age 60 she's STILL reacting and preparing to get things accomplished the same way she did for her father so she wouldn’t get in trouble.
Another told me, "I’m a full grown adult who has done a ton of work on herself, and I still feel like I’m in trouble for no reason."
From my own healing journey, I have found that childhood wounds aren’t just in the mind, they’re stored in the body as subconscious patterns. Until they are recognized, dealt with and re-coded at the deepest level, they’ll just keep repeating.
Until you will heal the wounds of your past, you’re going to continue to suffer. You can try to manage the pain with food, with alcohol, with drugs, and with work, but eventually, it will always resurface and continue to cause pain and stay in your life. You must find the strength to open the wounds, stick your hands inside, pull out the core of the pain that is holding you in your past-the memories- and make peace with them.
This. Is. Hard. Work. But there is nothing better than recognizing that those voices in your head aren't yours and that you are not what they say you are.
You are worthy of a life full of kindness and love. You are worthy of healing the trauma, and feeling safe, empowered and supported.
