The Diary (wonderful, fascinating and joyful) of Samuel Pepys. Day One: let’s go 🤗🤓
Description
Hallo dear friends and a very good evening. It’s a hot (I would say but it’s only 20 degrees so an American would say mild 😆) day in merry England.
I’ve planted many hollyhocks of all colours, a rose bush ‘New Dawn’ given to me to help with grief by my best friend Victoria, some ornamental poppies and wisteria. We also planted the unusual and Biblical hyssop which is associated with ritual cleansing and forgiveness. It was used in the bible on many occasions, including at Jesus’ crucifixion where it was used to offer Him a sponge soaked in sour wine, or ‘sick wine’ - vine gar.. 🙂
I wish you all a very happy Sunday and thank you so much for doing me the honour of joining me as we start our third series. This really will be lots of fun and if you persevere, your life will be all the happier for listening to Pepys talk about London life in the 1660s. It’s a wonderful adventure.
