The disciples of Pyrrho of Elis, a contemporary of Alexander the Great, sought to achieve inner tranquility through indifference and lack of opinion, while the Academic Skeptics modeled themselves after Socrates, looking to engage in a perpetual state of inquiry as a way to better reach the truth.
