The whipping boy is a tale of adventure that’s right up there with Treasure Island. The author, Sid Fleischman, wrote many great books for boys but this is one of his best, so I’ve graced it with a two part podcast series. It’s a coming of age story, an adventure tale, a lesson in life, but historically accurate it is not as there is no proof that whipping boys ever existed. Apart from that, it’s well worth the listen and you will grow to love all of the characters in this adventure classic.
