The time is now 10:00 AM in New York, I'm Noa Levi and this is the latest Israel Today: Ongoing War Report.

At 10:00 AM, we begin with an update on the ongoing multi-front conflict involving Israel and Iran’s regional proxies. Reports indicate that Syria’s new government has recently detained two senior members of Palestinian Islamic Jihad, Khaled Khaled and Abu Ali Yasser, in a move linked to efforts to curb Iranian influence within the country. These arrests follow a visit by Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas to Syria and are seen as part of Damascus’s broader crackdown on Iranian-backed militant groups.

In addition, Syrian security forces intercepted a significant shipment of Iranian weapons heading toward the southern provinces of Daraa and Suwayda. The weapons included heavy machine guns, ammunition, Katyusha rockets, and anti-tank missiles. Days earlier, a cache of light and medium weapons was discovered near Homs. These actions underscore Syria’s intensified efforts to diminish Iranian military entrenchment amid ongoing regional tensions.

Meanwhile, Iran’s foreign ministry has issued provocative statements suggesting that US companies could profit immensely from Iran’s nuclear sector, citing plans to build at least nineteen new reactors. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi claimed that Iran offers a “trillion-dollar” market opportunity, including opportunities for clean energy development. However, his address was canceled at the last minute at the Carnegie Endowment’s 2025 Nuclear Policy Conference, after requests to alter the session format which would have limited questioning. In his published remarks, Araghchi criticized the international community for ignoring Israel’s nuclear arsenal and refusing to join the Non-Proliferation Treaty, asserting Iran’s opposition to nuclear weapons on religious grounds and emphasizing a willingness to engage with the US based on “mutual respect.”

On the regional front, Israel continues its operations in Lebanon, where a Hamas-aligned Jamaa Islamiya leader was killed in an Israeli drone strike near Damour. The Lebanese health ministry also reported another fatality from a separate raid. Despite a ceasefire brokered by Qatar between Israel and Hezbollah last November, Israel has maintained targeted strikes, and recent reports indicate ongoing clashes and the deaths of Lebanese civilians. Israeli authorities say they remain committed to defending their borders while seeking to prevent escalation.

In the United States, the Anti-Defamation League reports a record increase in antisemitic incidents in 2024, totaling over 9,350 cases of harassment, vandalism, and assault—a 5% rise from the previous year. Notably, more than half of these incidents involved elements related to Israel or Zionism, reflecting rising global tensions and anti-Israel sentiment.

Domestically, Israeli officials are preparing for a potential conversation between Prime Minister Netanyahu and President Trump, expected to occur via phone today—their first since Netanyahu’s recent visit to Washington. Additionally, Israeli authorities announced that remains believed to be those of a diver attacked by a shark off Hadera have been recovered after a thorough search effort.

In other regional developments, Israel’s ongoing military operations continue in Gaza and the West Bank, with reports of strikes and casualties. Despite a fragile ceasefire with militant groups, tensions remain high, and the threat of escalation persists. In Lebanon, Israeli strikes targeted alleged terrorist infrastructure, killing Hamas-affiliated operatives and a Lebanese militant leader.
