The time is now 08:00 AM in New York, I'm Noa Levi and this is the latest Israel Today: Ongoing War Report.

At eight in the morning, we begin with updates on the ongoing conflict across multiple fronts. Israel is engaged in a multi-front war, confronting threats from Iran and its proxies across seven key areas: Iran itself, Gaza, the West Bank, Lebanon, Syria, Iraq, and Yemen. Israeli forces continue to carry out targeted operations to neutralize militant threats, with recent strikes in Lebanon killing a senior Hezbollah operative and a key Hamas figure involved in planning attacks from Lebanon. The Israeli military remains highly active along the northern border, aiming to dismantle terrorist infrastructure involving Hezbollah and Hamas operatives.

In Gaza, intense fighting persists as Israeli airstrikes have resulted in the deaths of at least 26 Palestinians in recent days, with over 1,890 casualties reported since the latest military campaign resumed in March. Hamas has rejected Israel’s latest ceasefire proposals, and indirect talks mediated by Egypt and Qatar aim to broker a truce. However, negotiations remain deadlocked, with Israel demanding a 45-day ceasefire in exchange for the release of ten hostages, which Hamas has rejected. The humanitarian situation in Gaza continues to worsen, with reports of widespread hunger and destruction, as Israel accuses Hamas of diverting aid, a claim Hamas denies.

Meanwhile, in the West Bank and Jerusalem, tensions remain high, with sporadic violence and clashes between Israeli forces and Palestinian residents. The Israeli government has increased security measures amid fears of escalation in these areas.

Internationally, the United States has signaled a firm stance against support for the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions movement, with the National Institutes of Health announcing a ban on participating in discriminatory boycotts, including those targeting Israel. This move comes amid heightened tensions following Israel’s military actions and diplomatic efforts to consolidate security and support.

Domestically, in the United States, antisemitic incidents have surged dramatically. The Anti-Defamation League reports an 84% increase in campus antisemitism in 2024, with over 9,350 incidents nationwide. For the first time since records began in 1979, the majority of these incidents are related to Israel and Zionism. Assaults, vandalism, and threats targeting Jewish communities have risen sharply, fueled by the war in Gaza and pro-Palestinian protests on campuses. A stabbing near the Brooklyn Chabad headquarters last August, where the attacker shouted “Free Palestine,” exemplifies the rising hostility.

In university news, Brown University announced the discontinuation of the Choices Program, citing economic reasons, amid accusations from some quarters that the curriculum was biased against Israel. Brown officials strongly denied allegations of antisemitism, emphasizing the importance of presenting diverse perspectives. The broader context includes the Trump administration’s threats to withdraw significant funding from institutions like Brown, citing concerns over anti-Israel activism and alleged antisemitism, as well as protests and encampments on campuses.

In other developments, a drone attack in Lebanon targeted a Hezbollah and Hamas-linked terrorist figure, Hussein Atawi, a senior member of Jam'a Islamiya, who was killed in his car on the way to Beirut. The Israel Defense Forces confirmed the operation and continue to target militant leaders across the region. Additionally, a report from China revealed that Beijing has warned South Korea not to export products containing Chinese rare earth minerals to US defe
