For most people, when they think of drying wood they think of the process as starting from the outside in. With the iDry System, a continuous vacuum kiln drying process is used that dries wood evenly and up to 10 times faster than traditional drying methods. Not only that, but iDry is a family-owned business based out of Vermont and is currently led by Jim Parker.

Initially, the iDry System’s clientele consisted of Fender, Gibson, Major League Baseball teams, and high-end designers. However, with a ton of hard work and 40 years of practice in the business, Jim and the iDry System team were able to bring the kiln price point down to a rate that’s affordable for all levels of businesses and hobbyists in the wood industry.

Show Highlights:

• For most people, wood is dried from the outside in. As moisture evaporates off, the wood continues to dry from the outside in. However, with thicker lumber, the moisture content difference between the shell of the wood and the core of the wood causes drying degrade. With the iDry System, a vacuum process is used that dries wood evenly (avoiding drying degrade) and up to 10 times faster.
• When it comes to clientele, The iDry Systems Vacuum Kiln has been used in the creation process of Fender and Gibson guitars, major league baseball bats, and high-end design. In fact, one of their first sales was to Barry Bonds, who used their vacuum kiln to dry the maple that was used in the baseball bats he used to break home run records!
• Jim Parker and the team have worked hard to bring the price point of their kiln down so that it’s affordable for everyone. Working with brands such as Woodmizer, they’re now able to see kiln sales in the sawmill sector.
