Not My Will, But Yours

Season 12 Episode 34

“Father, if you are willing, remove this cup from me, yet not my will but yours be done." - Luke 22:42

In his most difficult hour, Jesus was open, honest and vulnerable in his prayer. We can be open and honest with God about our hopes and dreams, our aspirations and desires. We can be open and honest about our fears and our pain as well.

Living in faith in part means trusting God enough to ask for what it is we really want. Some of us need to take this necessary first step. The rest of us still need to make the second. That is trusting God enough to embrace whatever it is that God has for us.

Sometimes we are called to walk on roads we don’t want to travel to go places we don’t want to go, to do things we don’t want to do.

Do we trust God enough to pray that God brings us into alignment with our highest possibilities and purposes for this time and place?

Are we willing to be and become what Got wants us to be, do what God wants us to do where, how and when God wants us to?  That can be a hard cup to drink.

The miracles don’t happen and the resurrections in our lives don’t come in full until we say not my will, but yours.
