Description
The Red Sox avoided being swept the Toronto Blue Jays with a 4-3, 10-inning win in the series finale Thursday afternoon at Fenway Park. The Sox lose their 1st series of the season against the Jays but managed to go 4-3 on their 1st homestand. Trevor Story brought in pinch-runner David Hamilton from 3rd base with the winning run on a slow roller that Andres Gimenez could not field and throw home on. It's the Red Sox 2nd walk-off win of the season.

To Err is Human: The Red Sox committed 2 more errors in the series finale. Trevor Story's throwing error in the 7th allowed the go-ahead run to score. The Red Sox committed only 3errors over their 1st 7 games but committed 11 errors on the homestand.

Vandy Boy On the Hill: Walker Buehler, who played his college baseball at Vanderbilt, turned in a strong performance, but still ended up with a no-decision. Buehler left with the tying run on base in the 7th and Justin Wilson gave up a game-tying single with the run charged to Buehler's record. Buehler did allow a leadoff walk in the 7th, but prior to that had retired 12 of 13 hitters. # 0's Final Line- 6.1 IP. 4 Hits. 1 R. 1 ER. 1 BB. 7 Ks. 1st-P Strikes- 18 of 24.

With RISP: The Red Sox went 0-for-11 with Runners in Scoring Position in falling in 11 Innings Wednesday night and went 2-for-14 with Runners in Scoring Position in the Finale. Series with RISP 4-for-43.

What's On Tap?: The Sox open up a 6-game road trip with the 1st of 3 in Chicago against the White Sox Friday night. San Newcomb and Davis Martin are the scheduled starters for the opener Friday night. The White Sox fell to the Guardians Thursday afternoon in Cleveland, and they've lost 8 in a row. Red Sox and Rays will open up a series in Tampa, FL Monday night.

Red Sox Trade: The Red Sox traded Pitcher Quinn Priester to the Milwaukee Brewers for minor league outfielder Yophery Rodriguez, a competitive balance pick (#33) in the 2025 MLB Draft and a player to be named later or cash considerations on Monday. Rodriguez was touted as the 7th-best prospect in the Brewers system according to MLB Pipeline. He’s 19 and started this season off at the Advanced-A Level. Priester was acquired from the Pirates last July for infielder Nick Yorke. Priester made his MLB debut on the final day of the 2024 Regular Season, and he earned the win vs. the Tampa Bay Rays.
