Could Victim of Captain’s Rage Have Legally Used Deadly Force?

Published 9 months, 1 week ago
Description

Florida Captain Brock Horner of Tarpon Coast Fishing was guiding a group of fisherman in his boat on Tuesday, April 1, when he took offense at the driver of another vessel, 22-year-old Gage Towles.  In a fit of rage, Horner boards Towles’ vessel, and acts in a threatening manner.

Fortunately for us, the exchange was captured on a camera held by the teenager.

The question presented to us at Law of Self Defense is this: What could the Towles’ have done in terms of use-of-force in defense of himself and his vessel?
Indeed, could he have been legally justified in using deadly defensive force? Could Captain Horner have been justifiably killed in response to his threatening conduct?

The answer is that these facts support several legal justifications for this Towle’s to have used deadly defensive force on Horner, and the Captain ought to be grateful that he’s not dead or grievously wounded today.

Join us LIVE as I break it all down in plain English!
