The Bible, an End-Time Safeguard, Don’t, Suffer from Spiritual Malnutrition with the Bible in Hand

Matthew‬ ‭4:4‬ ‭NIV‬‬

“Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.’”

All who study the word are represented as eating the word, feeding on Christ.... Even as the bodily necessities must be supplied daily, so the word of God must be daily studied—eaten, and digested, and practiced. This sustains the nourishment, to keep the soul in health. The neglect of the word means starvation to the soul. The word describes the blessed man as one meditating day and night upon the truths of God’s word. We all are to feast upon the word of God. The relation of the word to the believer is a vital matter. Appropriating the word to our spiritual necessities is the eating of the leaves of the tree of life that are for the healing of the nations. Study the word, and practice the word, for it is your life. – {Counsels on Sabbath School Work p. 43.2}

Psalm 119:103-105

How sweet are thy words unto my taste! yea, sweeter than honey to my mouth! 104Through thy precepts I get understanding: therefore I hate every false way. 105 Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.

Psalm 19:7-11

The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple. 8The statutes of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart: the commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes. 9The fear of the LORD is clean, enduring for ever…

Job 23:11-12

My foot hath held his steps, his way have I kept, and not declined. 12Neither have I gone back from the commandment of his lips; I have esteemed the words of his mouth more than my necessary food.

1 Peter‬ ‭2:2-3‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby: if so be ye have tasted that the Lord is gracious.”

We do not appreciate the Bible as we should. We do not have a proper estimate of the richness of its stores, nor do we realize the great necessity of searching the Scriptures for ourselves. Men neglect the study of the word of God in order to pursue some worldly interest, or to engage in the pleasures of the time. Some trivial affair is made an excuse for ignorance of the Scriptures given by inspiration of God. But anything of an earthly character might better be put off, than this all-important study, that is to make us wise unto eternal life. – {Christian Education p.115.1}

Jeremiah 15:16-17

Thy words were found, and I did eat them; and thy word was unto me the joy and rejoicing of mine heart: for I am called by thy name, O LORD God of hosts. 17I sat not in the assembly of the mockers, nor rejoiced; I sat alone because of thy hand: for thou hast filled me with indignation.

We are to eat the word of God; that is, we are not to depart from its precepts. We are to bring its truths into our daily lives, grasping the mysteries of godliness. – {Counsels on Health p. 370.4}

Pray to God. Commune with Him. Prove the very mind of God, as those who are striving for eternal life, and who must have a knowledge of His will. You can reveal the truth only as you know it in Christ. You are to receive and assimilate His words; they are to become part of yourselves. – {Counsels on Health p. 371.1}

Ezekiel 3:1-4

.

IF WE DO NOT TAKE TIME TO READ GOD’S WORD HE MIGHT CAUSE US TO HUNGER SO THAT WE WILL APPRECIATE READING HIS WORD. YEARS AGO I LISTENED TO A TESTIMONY OF A MAN WHO SAID “I THANK GOD THAT MY NECK WAS BROKEN, FOR IT WAS WHEN I LAY IN HOSPITAL FOR THREE MONTHS THAT I READ MY BIBLE OVER AND OVER AGAIN DAILY AND RECONNECTED WITH THE GOD OF MY CHILDHOOD!”

Deuteronomy‬ ‭8:3‬ ‭
