Welcome back to MJ English.
歡迎回到 MJ English。
Today we're going to be taking a deep dive into something that I think a lot of English learners kind of get tripped up on. Um, you know, how to properly greet people in English in different situations.
今天我們要深入探討一個很多英語學習者常常搞混的主題,那就是在不同情況下如何正確地用英文打招呼。
Yeah.
沒錯。
You know, like meeting someone for the first time or seeing someone you've met before, right?
像是第一次見人,或是再度遇到某人這種情況,對吧?
It can be a little confusing.
這真的有點令人混淆。
It can be.
沒錯。
So, we're going to clear all that up for you guys today. And then we're also going to be talking about a very common mistake that learners make when responding to the phrase, "Nice to meet you."
所以我們今天要幫大家把這些都釐清。然後我們也會聊聊當有人對你說「Nice to meet you」時,學習者最常犯的一個錯誤。
Yeah. I think this will be a really simple guide that people can use to feel a little bit more confident when they're speaking English.
對啊,我覺得這會是一個很簡單好懂的指南,幫助大家在說英文時更有自信。
For sure.
當然。
You know, just getting these little things right can make a big difference.
你知道的,把這些小地方用對了,真的差很多。
Absolutely. So, let's jump right into it. Okay, so we have nice to meet you. When do we use this phrase?
沒錯!那我們就馬上開始吧。首先是 "Nice to meet you"。這句話什麼時候可以用呢?
Well, nice to meet you is something we say when we're meeting someone for the very first time.
"Nice to meet you" 是用在第一次見到某個人的時候。
Okay, so you can think of it literally like I'm pleased to make your acquaintance, right? For the first time, right?
可以把它理解成「很高興第一次認識你」這樣的意思,對吧?
Um so, for example, if someone says, "Hi, I'm David." You can say, "Hi, David. Nice to meet you." As simple as that.
例如有人說:「Hi, I'm David.」你就可以回他:「Hi, David. Nice to meet you.」就這麼簡單。
Perfect.
完美的用法。
Just like making a new friend.
就像是在交新朋友一樣。
Exactly. Yeah. Now, what gets interesting is what happens next time you see David?
沒錯。那接下來有趣的地方是,如果你下一次又遇到 David,要怎麼說?
Exactly.
沒錯。
Right. What if you see David again the next day and you say, "Nice to meet you."
對啊,那如果你隔天又看到 David,然後又說一次 "Nice to meet you" 呢?
Yeah. It's kind of strange.
那會聽起來有點怪怪的。
It's a little strange, isn't it?
真的有點奇怪,對吧?
Yeah. Like, have we not met before?
對啊,就像在說「欸我們不是已經見過了嗎?」
It can almost make the other person feel like you've forgotten them, right? Which is not very polite.
對對方來說,會覺得你好像不記得他了,這樣感覺就不太禮貌。
Not the best.
不是個好印象。
Wait, don't they remember me?
會讓人想說「欸你忘了我嗎?」
Yeah, exactly.
完全正解。
So, what are some other phrases that we can use to greet someone the second, third, or any subsequent time that we meet them.
那我們還可
