Know Your Role

Know Your Role

Published 1 year, 3 months ago
Description

“The role of the artist is to save some of the people some of the time.”

If you make art for everyone you will fail.

Not all art is meant for every person.

There are people that think Picasso’s paintings are bad.

There are people that feel like Beyoncé was better when she was with Destiny’s Child.

Some people find Jim Carrey to be insufferable.

There are people that think most photography all looks the same to them.

Imagine if Maya Angelou wrote with the intention to save every single person.

She wrote “I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings” for those that felt a very specific way.

And those people continue to find it and connect to it.

Your art is meant for those that it’s meant for.

Sometimes you can choose exactly who those people are.

But most times the art you create chooses for you.

Let the art do its job.
