Today, I sit down with Zulma Williams, a mental health therapist, breast cancer survivor, and founder of Dragonfly Therapy Services. Also known as, The Swearing Therapist, Ms. Williams brings a real and unfiltered approach to helping people heal from trauma, anxiety, and depression. Originally from Argentina, she immigrated to the United States at age 31, navigated culture shock, and rebuilt her life with a deep sense of resilience and humor.

In our conversation, Ms. Williams shares her journey of starting her Bachelor of Social Work at 42, overcoming breast cancer, and later pursuing her Master’s in Social Work at 50. She explains how life experience, age, and authenticity give her a unique advantage as a therapist, and why accountability is key in the healing process. We dive into the challenges of abusive relationships, the stigma around therapy—especially in the military community—and why seeking help is not weakness but strength.

We also discuss her practice, Dragonfly Therapy Services, where she specializes in trauma, anxiety, and depression for adults. Ms. Williams opens up about her direct, compassionate, and sometimes humorous style of therapy, her mission to guide people toward their own solutions, and her message of resilience: “If you woke up today, your mission isn’t over.”
