Man With Multiple Prior DWIs Ticketed for Drinking in Public
On July 13, 2024 around 3:36 PM, Patrolman Cole Emmons with the Neptune City Police Department was on patrol and he observed a 44-year-old male drinking from an open container of alcohol while walking east on Third Avenue in the area of Steiner Avenue. He made contact with the male on Third Avenue near Memorial Drive and asked him for his information. The male informed him that his name was Jason Nagy, and he told the officer that he had just been released from the hospital. Jason was asked to sit on the curb, and the vodka spilled onto the ground afterwards.
As Patrolman Emmons returned to his patrol car to run his information through the system, Patrolman Adam Hubeny supervised him. Jason indicated that he was not feeling well and that he wanted to be transported back to the hospital. Patrolman Hubeny called for an ambulance rig to respond to the scene so that he could be evaluated further. A few minutes later, Patrolman Emmons handed Jason a summons, and first responders with Neptune Township First Aid responded to the scene shortly afterwards. Jason was escorted to the ambulance rig and transported to Jersey Shore University Medical Center without incident.
Jason was cited under Neptune City ordinance 39-26 for having an open container of alcohol in a public place. Court records indicate that Jason has been arrested for prior DWIs in Toms River on March 12, 2006, Avon-by-the-Sea on June 25, 2014, and Belmar on July 11, 2024. Following this incident in Neptune City, Jason was arrested again for DWI in Wall Township on July 14, 2024, and that case is also pending in court as of August 24, 2024.
