Stephen McDaniel Interrogation | Man Accused of Murdering His Classmate and Neighbor, Lauren Giddings

Stephen McDaniel, a former law student at Mercer University in Macon, Georgia, was convicted of the 2011 murder of his classmate and neighbor, Lauren Giddings. On June 26, 2011, McDaniel used a master key to enter Giddings' apartment, where he strangled her and later dismembered her body. He disposed of most of her remains in a dumpster, but her torso was discovered in a trash can outside their apartment complex.

The case gained significant attention when McDaniel, posing as a concerned friend, gave a televised interview during the search for Giddings. During the interview, he appeared shocked upon learning that her body had been found, a moment that was widely circulated and scrutinized.

In 2014, McDaniel pleaded guilty to murder and was sentenced to life imprisonment with the possibility of parole after 30 years. He is currently incarcerated at Hancock State Prison in Georgia.
