Season 12 Episode 33
Remember the Dream
“When the LORD restored the fortunes of Zion, we were like those who dream.” Psalm 126:1
The people of Israel and the writer of this psalm were living in difficult times. Hope was in short supply.
When things get hard, it’s tempting for us to give up and give in, to surrender to our circumstances. When things are bad and they have been bad for a while, it’s tempting to accept the bad as our new reality.
In the first part of this Psalm the writer remembers a time that was just as bad. The writer remembers a time when God brought the people of Israel through. The writer remembers a time when they lived the dream.
When we are feeling bad and doing bad, it’s important for us to remember what good feels like. We need to remember all the times we have come up, over and through, all the times we’ve reached the other side.
Remember the dream of wellbeing and peace, of mercy and justice, of faith, hope. and love. Remember and refuse to accept anything less.
