Only about 20 to 30 breeding pairs have recently been registered in this area. Bird photographers esteem the sight of this species as valuable as discovering a snow owl.

Deutsch: Elfenbeinmöwen (Pagophila eburnea) sind nur in der hohen Arktis beheimatet und sind nördlich von Spitzbergen die seltenste Vogelart. Gegenwärtig sind nur etwa 20 bis 30 Brutpaare registriert.
