“I want to know Christ and the power of his resurrection and the sharing of his sufferings by becoming like him in his death,” - Philippians 3:10
Paul says plainly what Jesus said poetically: “For whosoever shall desire to save his life shall lose it; but whosoever shall lose his life for my sake shall find it.” (Matthew 16:25)
The power of the resurrection is real and available to be made manifest in our lives. However, we have to be totally committed to the process, or the journey in order to experience it, in order to reach it.
There are no half measures. There are no short cuts. Unless we are willing to share in the work of carrying the cross, unless we are willing to allow ourselves to be poured out completely, unless we are willing to endure the pain, we will never experience the power of the resurrection in full.
As the old time gospel song puts it, “No Cross, No Crown”.
