A Better Solution
Description
“Sometimes the solution of the problem is better than the original idea.”
– Tyler the Creator
When I was in college writing a paper sometimes I’d get so into writing that I’d forget to save.
Yes there was a time before autosave.
Wild. I know.
But I would forget to save and then my paper would be gone forever.
I had two options in this situation.
Say screw it, I’m not writing it again.
Or
Write it again.
I always wrote it again.
But I would always do my best to make it just like it was before. Or as close as I could.
I can confidently say, it always came out better.
Here’s how I know.
I had just done it.
So I had the experience to know what to do.
I knew how it wanted the paper to feel when the reader read it. I knew how I wanted to start and end the paper. I knew how each section would feed into the next.
And I knew how to make the whole thing better.
That would never have happened if I only wrote it once.
Too often as artists and as people in general, we find problems within our problems. Instead, I would encourage you to find solutions within your problems. This only happens if you stop looking for the negative. I’ve seen people going through the best of times. Things are going well and they are living up to their potential.
However, they are waiting for something to go wrong. They are assuming the worst will happen simply because all is going well. They are so used to things going badly, that they assume the good times will end. That all good is followed by bad.
I’m here to say that you will always find what you are looking for. So look for the positive. Even when the positive is already there.
