Overcoming Failure and Moving Forward with Faith *

Published 1 year, 7 months ago
Description

Failure does not have to be the end of your story. Pastor Chris Teien shares how God can use failure to teach us, humble us, redirect us, and help us move forward with stronger faith. Through Christ, setbacks can become part of the path toward growth, courage, and renewed purpose.

In This Message

1. Everybody Fails in Many Ways
(James 3:2; Proverbs 28:13; Ecclesiastes 7:20)
Everyone stumbles, sins, and falls short. Failure should not make us quit. It should lead us to confess, learn, receive God’s mercy, and get back up.

2. Failure Can Become the Path to Success
(Proverbs 24:16; Galatians 6:9; Hebrews 12:11)
The righteous may fall, but they rise again. God can use failure to train us, correct us, and help us grow when we stay humble and keep moving forward.

3. God Can Use Failure for Good
(Romans 8:28)
Even our setbacks can become tools in God’s hands. He can use painful lessons, poor choices, and difficult seasons to prepare us, strengthen us, and help us encourage others.

4. Refuse to Compare Yourself to Others
(Galatians 6:4; 2 Corinthians 10:12)
Comparison can lead to pride or discouragement. God has uniquely gifted each believer, and faithfulness means becoming the person He created you to be.

5. Redefine the Meaning of Failure
(Hebrews 11:6)
Failure is not simply missing a goal. Real failure is refusing to try, refusing to trust God, or burying what He has entrusted to you.

6. Refocus on God’s Love
(1 John 4:18; Psalm 103:4-12; Romans 8:1)
God’s love drives out fear and reminds us there is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. Because Jesus forgives, restores, and strengthens us, we can move forward with faith.
