Witnesses described a creature lurking in the water—its body as large as a dog, but with eerie, bat-like wings and a long, scaly tail.

Even more unsettling, the beast may have also been seen prowling the land nearby. Dubbed the What-Is-It by bewildered newspapers, this mysterious entity left behind more questions than answers. Was it a cryptid, a misidentified animal, or something even stranger?
