Failure as a Starting Line

Failure as a Starting Line

Description

In this episode, I’m riffing off a blog I wrote yesterday about a talk I gave at my daughter’s middle school. I told the kids that "if you’re not failing, you might not be growing," and it reminded me of a Goethe quote: "He who moves not forward, goes backward." It’s a simple idea—if you’re not pushing ahead, you’re sliding back. For me, failure’s just the starting line. It means you’re trying something new. I’ll share how jumping into the glasses business after a high school epiphany—and plenty of flops—taught me that moving forward beats standing still every time. Plus, a bit about my next challenges, like strait crossings or a space comeback. Last year, I didn’t fail much, and honestly, that’s probably why I didn’t start much either.
