Ep. 12 - Austin Gilliam

Season 1 Episode 12 Published 1 year, 1 month ago
Description

Twin Rivers Music Scene recently spoke with Texas-based musician Austin Gilliam following his performance at the DKC Cookers tent during the Rodeo Austin BBQ Cook-Off. Austin Gilliam is renowned for blending country and rock influences to create his unique sound, which he describes as "Americana Rock." Growing up in a musically inclined family in Kingsville, Texas, his passion for music ignited at an early age when he discovered his mother's 12-string acoustic guitar. He was also captivated by Slash's guitar solos in the Guns N' Roses video for "Sweet Child O' Mine."

Austin has become a prominent figure in the New Braunfels music scene, performing with his power trio, The Well Fed Texans.

In our conversation, Austin shared insights about building and maintaining relationships in New Braunfels over the past 20 years, offered advice for up-and-coming artists, and revealed the backstory behind his popular song "Strawberry Lemonade."

We hope you enjoy this special episode of the Twin Rivers Music Scene Podcast, filmed on the road at the Rodeo Austin BBQ Cook Off!
