Friday, March 6th: In this episode of The Daily Grind, John Spencer explores Luke 9:51-62, where Jesus resolutely sets out for Jerusalem and encounters rejection along the way. When His disciples, James and John, want to call down fire on a Samaritan village, Jesus rebukes them, teaching that following Him requires compassion rather than retaliation. Walking with Jesus means choosing love over pride and prejudice, even when people reject us. As the journey continues, Jesus challenges three would-be followers, making it clear that discipleship demands commitment. He warns that following Him may mean sacrificing comfort, security, and even family expectations. Jesus isn’t looking for half-hearted followers—He calls us to be all in. The kingdom of God is urgent, and looking back keeps us from moving forward in faith. Are we willing to trust Jesus above everything else? The good news is that the road of discipleship doesn’t end at the cross—it leads to resurrection and eternal life.
