  • This would add to the already long tournament.
• Reduced Significance of Regular Season:
  • The regular season's importance would be diminished. If more teams get in, the regular season becomes less important.
• Increased Game Load:
  • Expanding the tournament would mean more games, putting a strain on players' physical and mental well-being.
• Impact on Smaller Conferences:
  • While it might seem to benefit smaller conferences, it could actually hurt them. The "Cinderella" stories become less special if more smaller teams are involved.
• Over Saturation:
  • The tournament is already a long event. Adding more games would lead to over saturation.

In essence, while the proposal might generate short-term revenue, it would ultimately undermine the integrity and excitement of the NCAA Tournament.
