- The Trump administration announced they had detained pro-Hamas activist Mahmoud Khalil. The Department of Homeland Security took him into custody with the intent to revoke his green card and deport him after he repeatedly expressed public support for terrorism.
- Khalil is originally from Syria and has been one of the leaders of the antisemitic harassment campaign taking place at Columbia University.
- U.S. District Judge Jesse M. Furman, an Obama appointee, has blocked the Trump administration’s efforts to deport Mahmoud Khalil.
- Democrats are openly rallying behind Khalil.
- Conservative House Freedom Caucus member Rep. Anna Paulina Luna, R-Fla., and Congressional Progressive Caucus member Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., teamed up to push a measure that would cap credit card interest rates at 10%.
