After my marriage ended, I was grasping for something to hold onto. My friends were like, "Come to Bali, it's the perfect place to heal!" Waterfalls, ecstatic dance, sunshine—yes, please. So I packed my bags and flew across the world, thinking I'd be wrapped in adventure and good vibes.

But Spirit had other plans.

The very next day, my friends had to leave the country unexpectedly. And just like that, I was alone. In Bali. 🌊

The one thing I was most afraid of—I now had to face. No distractions, no one to lean on. Just me, my thoughts, and this wide-open unknown.

And I'm not gonna lie to you guys… it got dark. 😶‍🌫️

On Christmas Eve, I knew I couldn't stay in the hotel room any longer. I needed to just be around people, even if they were strangers. So I pulled up Hotels.com, and—literally everything was booked. Except for one hotel. Brand new. Opened that very day.

I was like, "Okay, Spirit, I see you." 👀

So I booked it.

And when I arrived? I saw someone I knew. Someone I had loosely met years ago—turns out, he was the owner. 🤯

Suddenly, I was surrounded by the most beautiful, unexpected community. A group of people, all in Bali for different reasons, all navigating their own transformations. And just like that, I was part of something new.

And then it hit me.

Because I was surrounded by new people—people who knew nothing about my past—I had the opportunity to leave my old self behind. I didn't have to explain my story, my heartbreak, my identity. I could just… be.

And that meant I could become whoever I wanted to be.

For the first time, I wasn't confined by past expectations. I could experiment. I could grow. I could shift in ways I never allowed myself to before. And that realization opened up my entire world.

Because if I could leave that version of myself behind… then I could live anywhere I wanted.

I could become anyone I wanted.
