Diddy Defendants And The Opposition To Hampton Jane Doe's Anonymity (Part 1) (3/11/25)

In the case Doe v. Combs et al., presided over by Hon. John G. Koeltl (Case No. 24-cv-08813), the defendants, including Sean "Diddy" Combs and associated corporate entities, have filed a memorandum opposing the plaintiff's motion to proceed anonymously. The defendants argue that allowing the plaintiff to use a pseudonym contradicts the principles of open judicial proceedings and could prejudice their ability to mount an effective defense. They emphasize that anonymity in legal actions is generally reserved for exceptional circumstances, such as cases involving minors, matters of a highly sensitive and personal nature, or where there is a risk of physical harm.

The defendants contend that the plaintiff has not demonstrated sufficient justification to warrant anonymity, asserting that the issues at hand do not involve such extraordinary situations. Furthermore, they suggest that permitting the plaintiff to proceed anonymously could hinder their ability to conduct a thorough defense, as it may limit access to pertinent information and witnesses. The defendants request that the court deny the plaintiff's motion and require the use of her real name in the proceedings to maintain fairness and uphold the integrity of the judicial process.
