Back to Episodes#108 – Grimerica Talks Mindfullness with Joseph Emet
Description
Joseph Emet, author of his latest book “Buddha’s Book of Meditation – Mindfulness Practices for a Quieter Mind, Self-Awareness, and Healthy Living. We’ve talked about meditation a lot in Grimerica and here is great opportunity to get deeper into mindfulness.
Joseph has written about sleeping better and stress reduction through meditation and he is the founder of Mindfulness Meditation Centre in Montreal. He also has a doctorate in music and has trained under Zen master Thich Nhat Hanh.
This is a journey from “brainfullness” to mindfulness, from self-control to self-regulation, and from indifference to compassion. Joseph has been helping cancer patients and many others with a variety of ailments through techniques like focusing on your breathing, mantras, and by non-judgmental observance of your monkey mind. Don’t worry everyone has one.
“We can all take a few conscious breaths and let go of impatience, hurry, or stress as we go through our day. Living mindfully makes it possible to be in the present.”
-from the foreword by Thich Nhat Hanh
We chat about the stages of awareness through meditation practice, the benefits from depression, anxiety, and insomnia among others.
