梅莉以前在中国、法国、西班牙等欧洲国家待过，这是 her first time living in an English speaking country.

What are some things that have been different and interesting about the country so far?那梅莉去澳洲不到一个月，发现了澳洲有哪些有趣、奇异的不同点呢？

1. Language 英语不一样

都是讲英语，澳大利亚人讲英语的方式可太不一样了！The way Australians speak is quite different. 梅莉有一些澳州室友（Australian roommates），经常听不懂对方在说什么。

第一个不同，就是 the way Australians speak，澳洲人的英文很不一样。

澳洲人喜欢abbreviate everything（一切都用简略词），而且have different slangs they use daily（日常所用的俚语也是不同的）。

比如：英美人喜欢用dude, buddy来喊对方，而在澳大利亚，他们用mate（in Australia they use mate to refer to anyone）
