7. DECISION One of the common attributes of highly successful people is the ability to reach decisions quickly and to change them slowly. Most unsuccessful people do the opposite. Slow Decisions and Fast Changes...this happens when we are stressed as well. In a survey of 25,000 business people poor decision-making was at the top of the list of the reasons that people fail. You need to conquer procrastination...this is the enemy to your growth and abundance. And remember this...if a decision is worth anything at all it is worth sticking to, until it has been completely worked. Note: The type of decision Hill talks about in his book are firm and resolute decisions, instead of the ones that are formed and forgotten 8. PERSISTENCE This quality has often been
the key difference between success and failure in countless cases studied. The lack of persistence has kept the majority from great accomplishment. Very often when things get tough and we feel there is no hope – it is at this point where, if we persist we will start to see the first signs of success.
Persistence is a state of mind and therefore can be cultivated. Lack of persistence can be overcome with effort. Ultimately, Persistence is going to be the direct result of habit...listen to what Napoleon Hill has to say...
There are four simple steps which lead to the habit of PERSISTENCE. They call for no great amount of intelligence, no particular amount of education, and but little time or effort. The necessary steps are: 1. A DEFINITE PURPOSE BACKED BY BURNING DESIRE FOR ITS FULFILLMENT. 2. A DEFINITE PLAN, EXPRESSED IN CONTINUOUS ACTION. 3. A MIND CLOSED TIGHTLY AGAINST ALL NEGATIVE AND DISCOURAGING INFLUENCES, including negative suggestions of relatives, friends and acquaintances. 4. A FRIENDLY ALLIANCE WITH ONE OR MORE PERSONS WHO WILL ENCOURAGE ONE TO FOLLOW THROUGH WITH BOTH PLAN AND PURPOSE. These four steps are essential for success in all walks of life. When one makes an impartial study of the prophets, philosophers, "miracle" men, and religious leaders of the past, one is drawn to the inevitable conclusion that PERSISTENCE, concentration of effort, and DEFINITENESS OF PURPOSE, were the major sources of their achievements. When riches take the place of poverty, the change is usually brought about through well-conceived and carefully executed PLANS. ANYBODY can WISH for riches, and most people do, but only a few know that a definite plan, plus a BURNING DESIRE for wealth, are the only dependable means of accumulating wealth. One of America's most successful and best known financiers followed the habit of closing his eyes for two or three minutes before making a decision. When asked why he did this, he replied, "With my eyes closed, I am able to draw upon a source of superior intelligence." MAKE YOUR DESIRES CLEAR, AND TO REDUCE THEM TO WRITING. You will also understand the necessity of PERSISTENCE in carrying out instructions. It begins with study, analysis, and understanding of three enemies which you shall have to clear out. These are INDECISION, DOUBT, and FEAR! 9. POWER OF THE “MASTER MIND” Throughout the book Napoleon Hill refers to a “Master Mind” group. The ““Master Mind”” can be defined as “Co-ordination of knowledge and effort, in a spirit of harmony, between two or more people, for the attainment of a definite purpose”. When a mastermind works together, there is an intangible force that is created. (3rd mind) Ultimately, the Power of the Mastermind is what inspired me to create The Daily Mastermind....to assist you.
