New Grand Canyon head coach Jon Sioredas talks about the future – Short Time Ep.

After spending the last seven years on the sidelines as an assistant coach at Chattanooga and Old Dominion, Jon Sioredas is now a Division I head wrestling coach. On August 22, Grand Canyon University announced Sioredas would become the second head wrestling coach in school history and he'll be leading the Lopes into a new era as they prepare for Division I competition.
Grand Canyon is entering the second year of a four-year provisional period as the school moves from Division II to Division I. The school already has notable head coaches as NBA All-Star Dan Majerle heads up the men's basketball team and former major leaguer Andy Stankiewicz leading the baseball program.

Did you apply for any of the other Division I openings this year?
What are some of the unique things Grand Canyon brings to the college wrestling landscape. We're talking about a for-profit school.
What did you learn as an assistant under Heath Eslinger and Steve Martin?
The culture at UTC is something the staff spoke highly of, what type of culture are you going to try to bring to Grand Canyon?
What's it going to be like to recruit in an environment where athletes still know there's three more years before they'll be Division I eligible?
What's it going to be like to recruit in an environment where Zeke Jones has just come into town over at Arizona State and has already gotten busy with recruiting?
You'll have three years to compete with the NCWA. How much do you know about that system?
