The Miami Marlins forgot to pack their bats for San Diego, and their defense picked the worst time to fall apart, as the San Diego Padres took game one of this three-game series in Southern California.

Miami Shortstop Tim Anderson committed two errors in the seventh inning, leading to Anthony Bender allowing the go-ahead run on a hit batsman. The Padres got a second inning solo home run from Dominic Solano for their other run. 

Jazz Chisholm, Jr. had two hits, including his eighth home run, for Miami, but the rest of the team managed just two hits off four Padres pitchers in another subpar offensive performance from a team that has been playing much better baseball lately. 

The two teams play again tomorrow, with Jesus Luzardo on the mound for Miami against San Diego's Matt Waldron. First pitch is set for 4;!0 pm ET.
