Andrew McCutcheon hit a three-run home run, Bryan Reynolds added two hits, two RBI's and two runs scored to lead the Pirates to their second straight win in this series and a 6-0 record vs the Marlins in 2024.

Jake Burger's RBI single scored Jhonny Pereda, and brought Otto Lopez to the plate as the tying run at the plate in the ninth inning, but Aroldis Chapman (save, 8) struck him out to end the game. 

Kyle Stowers went 2-4 with two doubles, an RBI and a run scored for the Marlins. Jhonny Pereda had three hits, an RBI and a run scored. Jonah Bride added an RBI single. 

Adam Oller (1-3) got ripped for six earned runs on seven hits in five innings for Miami. George Soriano pitched the final three innings, striking out four while allowing just one hit. Oller gave up a pair of runs in the first and four more in the fifth when Reynolds (83 RBI's) ripped an RBI single and McCutchen followed two batters later with the 319th homer of his career. 

The Pirates used seven pitchers in the game. Starter Carmen Mlodzinski pitched two scoreless innings. Joey Wentz (1-2) pitched the next 2 2/3 innings to get the win. 

The Marlins scratched infielder Connor Norby from the lineup with left foot soreness. Norby fouled a pitch from Pirates pitcher Paul Skenes on Monday. 

Miami has claimed RHP Michael Petersen off waivers from the Los Angeles Dodgers. Petersen went 3-0 with a 6.43 ERA in 11 appearances with LA. They also designated RHP Brett de Geus for assignment. 

The Marlins clinched a playoff berth in Pittsburgh this time last year. This year, they are on pace for their first 100-loss season since 2019.

The series wraps up tomorrow. The Marlins haven't decided on a starting pitcher yet. Bailey Falter (7-7, 4.45 ERA) will pitch for the Pirates. First pitch is set for 12:35pm ET.
