On the evening of August 10th, 2017, in Copenhagen, Denmark, freelance journalist Kim Wall decided to squeeze in one more story before moving to China with her partner. She was given a last-minute opportunity to interview an eccentric Danish “inventrepreneur” who had built three submarines and worked on two crowd-funded manned space projects.
