20-year-old Jesus Monroy, is accused of murdering his pregnant girlfriend, Mia Campos, after a grand jury indicted him last Wednesday.
Police said Campos left her home on the evening of July 14 to go to a gas station with Monroy but never returned. Her parents tracked her location using an app, leading them to a wooded area where they discovered her body. That night, Monroy joined Campos’ family in searching for her but told them he hadn’t seen her that day.
Prosecutors allege Monroy lured his 16-year-old girlfriend, who was 7.5 months pregnant with their son, to the entrance of her neighborhood, where he killed her by means of asphyxiation her before dumping her body in the woods.
