The Celtics held on late and avoided a 2nd straight home loss with a 120-119 win over the New Orleans Pelicans at TD Garden Sunday night. CJ McCollum missed on a potential game-winner after the Celtics were called for a 5-second violation on an inbounds pass

#'s of the Night: The Pelicans hit 17 3's and the Celtics hit 13 3's on the night.  It's the 4th straight game where the opposing team made more 3's than the Celtics.  Jayson Tatum scored 21 in the 2nd Half and finished with a game-high 38 Points.  The Celtics are now 12-5 on the season when Tatum goes for 30 or more. Trey Murphy III went for 30 in the loss.  The game had 21 lead changes and 14 ties.  Kristaps Porzingis turned in his 3rd straight Double-Double with 19 Points and 11 Rebounds and he also had 3 Blocks.

1st Half Nuggets: The Celtics largest deficit in the 1st Quarter was 11 and they trailed, 35-29 after the 1st 12 Minutes. Jayson Tatum had 13 in the 1st Quarter.  The Pelicans were led by Dejounte Murray, who had hit his 1st 6 shots (1st 5 3's) and had 17 in the opening Quarter.  Boston took its 1st lead of the game at 46-45 in the 2nd Quarter on a jumper from Derrick White.  It was White's only bucket of the 1st-Half, and he missed on all 4 3-point attempts.  Jayson Tatum had 17 at the Half.  Murray did not score in the 2nd Quarte for the Pelicans. Tatum and Kristaps Porzingis were both -9 in the 1st Half.

What's On Tap?: The Celtics are off the next 2 nights and travel to Toronto to face the Raptors Wednesday night.  The Celtics are 2-0 this season against Toronto with both wins coming at home in Boston.  The Celtics beat the Raptors by 54 on December 31. Celtics are home against the Magic and Hawks on back-to-back nights next Friday and Saturday.
