Today, I am fortunate to have Dr. Don Clum with me for the fourth time. He is the founder and owner of Insulin Friendly Living, a virtual practice specializing in insulin resistance and advanced metabolic nutrition. 

In this episode, Dr. Don Clum explains that one in eight adults in the United States, or around 40 million people, are taking Ozempic or similar GLP-1 drugs primarily for weight loss. He highlights that these drugs work by mimicking the effects of GLP-1, a hormone that regulates insulin secretion and hunger signals. However, the drugs cause side effects by artificially creating a feeling of fullness, leading to nausea, vomiting, and severe digestive issues like gastroparesis. Additionally, long-term use can result in muscle wasting and insulin resistance as the body adapts to the drug's high levels of GLP-1, causing significant metabolic imbalances and potential health risks.
