As a result of the final group standings, England are the clear favourites to win the tournaments again— despite 3 lackadaisical and uninspiring performances. However, as it often does for Southgate, the draw massively favours England, who are the favourites to advance from the significantly weaker half— with France, Germany, Spain and Portugal all on the other side.
The episode also analyses the USA’s Copa America campaign, which could come to an end next Monday, following the hosts‘ humiliating loss to Panama. The States must now deliver a win against high flying Uruguay, while also needing a favour from Bolivia— who are rock bottom of the group.
