How to Ensure that We Gain our Lives In the End
Published 1 year, 3 months ago
Description
After the clarity of knowing the identification of Jesus by St. Peter--He is the Christ--, Peter hits the dirt. He chided our dear Lord for His prophecy regarding His suffering and death and return to life. Peter thought that suffering and the cross had no place in the plans of God. Jesus reprimanded him by calling him Satan and telling him to his face that his thoughts were not aligned with God's. This is the important lesson we need to continually learn, i.e., we need to imitate Jesus in His willingness to suffer and die for the love of us. He assures us that by so doing, we will actually find our real life. It is not in saving our own selves that we will find life. It is in losing our lives, like Jesus did for us, that we will find life.
