Efforts to destroy it have failed, as it mysteriously reappears. In the 19th century, a poet, Hassan al-Mansour, studied the book and performed a ritual from it. Following the ritual, Hassan vanished, leaving behind a journal speaking of imprisonment by the Jin described in the book.
